What seemed like a hopeless tragedy became a milestone of discipline, courage, perseverance, and expertise that inspired the movie The 33. For 17 excruciating days no one knew whether these men had survived the collapse of the mine nor were they aware of any rescue attempts. They were trapped underground for a total of 69 days and it was there, in that frightening landscape, that one of them assumed the responsibility of keeping the men encouraged while using the tragedy as an opportunity to share his faith.
